Watch Sugar + The Hi-Lows Cover “Ring of Fire”

Rootsy, folk duo Sugar + The Hi-Lows (Trent Dabbs and Amy Stroup) recently added their sweet, signature sound to a collection of Johnny Cash classics in the release of Wild Desire (Live Sessions). The project transpired after the duo performed the songs live, sharing the stage with a group of dancers at the Nashville Ballet. The seven-song EP, Wild Desire (Live Sessions) is available on iTunes® now and includes Cash favorites like “Jackson” and “Ring of Fire.” In ode to the Man in Black himself, Sugar + The Hi-Lows released a black and white music video of “Ring of Fire, which premiered on Rolling Stone. Watch it here courtesy of Rolling Stone Country:
“It’s a truly powerful thing when two unexpected art forms come together for a special performance,” says Stroup. “We got to experience this twice when we played ‘Ring of Fire’ live with the ballet, and then again when we huddled into Anthony [Matula]’s studio in [Nashville’s] Marathon Village and tried our hand at recreating the emotion for a music video.”
In September, Sugar + The Hi-Lows join singer/songwriter Andrew Belle on a West Coast Tour which will include shows in Los Angeles, San Francisco and Seattle. The tour kicks off shortly after the duo plays Lightning 100’s “Live On The Green” on September 6. The line-up for the Saturday show includes Jake Bugg, LP, Phin, The Lone Bellow and Ingrid Michaelson. For tickets and more information, visit
