The 42nd Annual CMA Awards Show – And the Winners Are…
Here is a rundown of this years CMA Awards show hosted by Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood. The show billed as Country Music’s Biggest Night was indeed a great awards show. Here is a rundown of what happened.
Lady Antebellum performed their hit song “Love Don’t Live here“, it looked the members of Lady Antebellum were having themselves a great time performing. This is one group I am looking forward to seeing live. Next up Brad Paisley introduces Martina McBride for her performance and she is wearing leather just like Kellie Pickler. Next up newcomer Rodney Atkins, I’ve heard him sound better I don’t know if he was a little nervous or if his monitor was not working correctly. I know I would be nervous as all hell if it was me up there. Next up is the category Vocal Group of the Year presented by Heidi Newfield and John Rich.
Vocal Group of The Year
Rascal Flatts
Next up is new country sensation Taylor Swift looking very Cinderella like with her princess dress and is that a tiara, I’m a guy what do I know. Next up as the crowd goes into a royal frenzy Kid Rock performs his break away country hit “All Summer Long” wearing a Titans Jersey making the hometown people happy, Is it just me or are all the performers having a little bit of trouble tonight. Carrie Underwood presents new comer Jason Aldean. Next up Taylor Swift is back on stage to present “Best New Artist”.
Darius Rucker performs “Don’t Think I Don’t Think About It” from his chart-topping debut country album “Learn to Live”. Let’s hope he sticks around for a while, you should really give this whole album a listen as it is very good. Carrie Underwood looking as good as ever and in what her 4th dress change presents Brad Paisley to perform “Waitin’ on a Woman“, Which by the way won “Music Video of The Year“. I was kind of hoping for Andy Griffith to come out on stage, but alas some things are not meant to be. Josh Turner and Lee Ann Womack presented Album of the Year.
Brad Paisley introduced Keith Urban to sing “Sweet Thing”, I wonder who he was singing that one about. Next up was Vince Gill to announce this years inductees to the Country Music Hall of Fame which included; Emmy Lou Harris, Tom T. Hall, The Statler Brothers and Ernest Pop Stoneman. Vince Gill also presented the Female Vocalist of The Year Award.
Sugarland did a very produced number and next up New Artist James Otto performs “Just Got Started Lovin’ You” which led into the announcment of “Radio Station of The Year” – WQYK. Brad and Carrie had a little talk about her 6th dress change and introduced 3 time Entertainer of the year winner Kenny Chesney with the Wreckers for a great performance, Kenny needs to play a liitle more country and maybe a little less island music. Next up one of my new favorites Trace Adkins performs “Your Gonna Miss This“. Carrie introduced Nashville’s own Reese Witherspoon (so that is why they kept putting her on camera) to introduce Male Vocalist of The Year.

Brad did the coolest thing before accepting his award, he jumped off stage to give his wife Kimberly Williams belly a kiss, guess there’s no hiding it now. The Eagles performed next and sounded great as usual. The special guest we were all waiting to see was none other than Shania Twain, who looks great, I guess divorce must agree with her. Shania presented Entertainer of the Year.
