Gloriana – The New Faces In The Crowd

Cheyenne Kimball of Gloriana, (Vocals, Mandolin, Guitar) took some time out of her busy schedule while on Taylor Swift’s “Fearless” Tour to talk with Country Fan Network about the tour and the release of their debut album Titled “Gloriana”, which is due to be released August 4th. Cheyenne was born in Jacksonville, North Carolina, but spent much of her childhood in Frisco, Texas. She was performing in the Dallas area at age 10 and she entered NBC’s “America’s Most Talented Kid” at 12, winning the national competition.

She signed a record deal at 13, released an album, toured nationally and had her own MTV reality show. At age 17, she relocated to Nashville, TN. She saw Tom, Mike and Rachel at a gig and approached them about joining the band. From that moment on, Gloriana was formed.

Countryfannetwork: Hi Cheyenne, thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule with the tour and new album coming out in August to talk with us here at Country Fan Network.

Cheyenne Kimball: Oh, no problem. Glad to do it, Thank you to you and the fans of Country Fan Network.

CFN: How is the tour going?

CK: Incredible. It’s so much fun and the fans are incredible.

CFN: How long was the band playing together before being signed?

CK: Since January of 2008, We got signed by Emblem Music Group, Everything just took off from there.

CFN: How did you come up with the songs for the new album?

CK: We all took a writers class and they split us into groups. Over the course of two days, we came up with 60 songs. Then we spent two weeks locked away in a room making the songs our own. Seeing that we where trying to find out who Gloriana really was, and what we sounded like.

CFN: How did you figure out who was going to sing which song?

CK: We would each take turns singing a song and we knew right away what song was right for what person. We all have different singing styles. Like mine is more Bluesy, where as Rachel and Tom are more country and Mike is the Country Rock sound.

CFN: What is the next single to be released from your self titled debut album?

CK: The next single is “ How Far Do You Wanna Go”. The video is already playing on CMT. It’s not available yet. We have a commitment to CMT for four videos and “How Far Do You Wanna Go” is the third video.

CFN: What is the biggest surprise the band has had from your rise in popularity?

CK: Hmmmmm. The biggest surprise more than anything was a phone call from Taylor Swift personally to ask us to join her tour before anyone else could sign for the summer. That was incredible! Really’, what could be better than that?

CFN: Oh I don’t know maybe George Strait calling and asking to join his tour (Laughing)

CK: Yeah you’re right, I guess (Laughing)

CFN: Do you feel you or Rachel might outgrow the band?

CK: Oh no, not at all. As a matter of fact, I see us having a reunion tour when we are 80 (Laughing). But really, no not at all. We just sound so good together and we really are a family.

CFN: Where do you see yourself and the band 5 years from now?

CK: Oh, wow! I haven’t looked that far. I can’t see past today. Everything is so crazy with the tour and the new album and everything else that’s going on.

CFN: Who do you look forward to working with in the future?

CK: Anybody really. Taylor Swift, Keith Urban. Mike would love to work with John Mayer. He’s a huge John Mayer fan. Me personally, I would love to meet and work with my idol Stevie Nicks.

CFN: I know you’re busy and I have only one question left for you. It’s just a fun question that I thought the fans might get a kick out of. What is your favorite food?

CK: (Laughs) Oh, Mexican food is wonderful, we have Chipotle bowls a lot. I love them and all kinds of Mexican food. Just recently, we have had Greek and Indian food. That was different, but surprisingly good.

CFN: Cheyenne, thanks again for taking time out of your busy schedule to talk with us we at Country Fan Network and our fans wish you and the band the best of luck with your new album and your tour.

CK: You’re very welcome and our thanks to Country Fan Network and the fans for your support and all the well wishes.
