Blake Shelton releases six pack “Hillbilly Bone”

Blake SheltonOklahoma native Blake Shelton, is currently heating up the airwaves with the title track of his sixth album Hillbilly Bone.   Starting today Blake Shelton is hitting the road and hitting it hard to promote his first “six pack” album “Hillbilly Bone” a collection of six songs. His label hopes that The six pack a collection of six songs sold at a lower price point than a regular CD will boost sales and get more of his music on the market. Blake hopes to release another six pack set in August and possibly a third at the end of the year.
I saw Blake, who opened for George Strait last year and was truly impressed with his performance and the way he engaged with the audience. I knew then that this man was going to go a long way in country music and it wouldn’t be long before he was headlining his own tours.
The Title track “Hillbilly Bone” featuring Trace Adkins is a great song that in a catchy way states you don’t have to be from the country to like country. If the mood hits you, go with it and enjoy it.  Deep down inside we all have a Hillbilly Bone. Pairing these two together is a great idea and I hope to see more of this, Blake holds his own when paired with the big voice of Trace Adkins.  The song is  currently No. 3 on USA TODAY’s country airplay chart.

Other songs on the six pack include “Kiss my Country Ass” a great song that basically says if you have a problem with what I like, such as beer, the American Flag and guns then you can “Kiss my Country Ass“. The song reminds me a little of Charlie Daniels “Long Haired Country Boy“. “You’ll Always Be Beautiful” is a great ballad that brings out Blake’s softer side and seems to be sung from the heart, maybe he was thinking about Miranda Lambert while recording it.
One of my favorite songs on this CD has got to be “Can’t Afford to Love You“, every once in a while you hear a song that was written just for you and for me this is the one. “Delilah” and “Almost Alright” are good songs also, but the winners in my opinion on this six pack are the first four tracks. There is something for everyone on this new release and I am sure it will leave you wanting more, and after all isn’t that what a good album is supposed to do.
